Another Go...

A lot has happen and I really can't believe the last time I posted was on Jan 23rd. My car is going through a whole make over. It will make sense at the end of the post. lol

Tapped the wall

...Fun till this happened












Unfortunately, I ended up crashing at one of our spots. The rain was really pouring and I was going in for the switch back on the S-Turn, the car didn't switch back and instead went nose first into the curb. It really shot me down a bit, I'm just glad it wasn't worst, but fixable at least.

Brought the car to the family shop the following week.

Pulled the frame forward an inch and to the right. Car is welded up back to spec.


Bought brand new Tension Rods from Wicked Tuning.

Attended Fatlace Word Up Event on April 16th










Ran through some issues with my wheel's inner lip making contact with my brake line bracket which you can hear and see in the video that Grady posted. After the event I ended up making custom brackets for my brake lines and hammered a little at my wheel well, hopefully this solves my issue.

Might even consider running 17s in the front or just run a lower offset wheel in the fronts. Its my mistake for running my rear wheels as my fronts. Good news though, I finally saved up enough to get my front wheel repaired today. So I'm happy!

I have to keep moving forward and things are looking good so far. I really can't wait for the next event and have my car looking in-tacked!

Fatlace Word Up 2/5/2011

I went out with my super old camera and did some filming of David Nguyen (from Persistance). I think this was the first time I met someone (in person) with a miata drifting at an actual event. It was nice change-- good shit David!

Don't miss the part where he flips his wipers lol.



In other news, the next Word Up event John (and I) will be running is in April. I would have signed up for March, but sadly it's already full.

the fatlace event was great, trying out the new 4.7 was awesome. i was finally laying smoke with it. i ran 195/60/14 re950 potenzas all day. because of the new 4.7 and the courses only being 2nd gear, i went with 50 psi and only went through 1 pair, so i was very happy about that.. from my previous events, i usually go through alot more tires even though im just stock 4ag. this is because my tires are usually old junkyard tires and im on 3rd gear with alot of psi in the 60 range, so the laminate inside rips and i get huge mounds on my tires. i once only went through 2 laps around thunderhill fulltrack with some shitty old toyo tires before i had to come back!

the course layout was very fun, the main course being the most entertaining. i havent drifted in almost a year, and it took a little bit to get back into the groove at first...i mean i wasnt spinning/straightening out too much, but wasnt exactly drifting or being consistent as i wanted to... but in the middle-end of the day i could link both courses completely and was driving alot more like i wanted. it was a nice day, and was satisfied. very chill event and i would definitely recommend to have a nice laid back time. i even got to hear fatlace play one of my highschool friend's joint on the loud speakers.

i decided to just spin the car when i realized i went too wide so i wouldnt run into a bunch of cones haha! that last loop was a little hard to read at first, but later got the hang of it. its the same loop im going through in the "smoke wall" (which i fucking love!) picture john posted in a previous post.

Final thoughts:

In no particular order, thank you Jason, John, Adrian, and David for pushing me to go to this event. I haven't had this much fun in a while, and it helped me forget some of the stresses of my "normal" life.

Super special thanks goes to Jason for letting me drive his car later in the day. This was my first time ever driving a 240, with a legit setup, AND with an SR. In fact, I've never drifted a car other than my own. Driving it made me laugh, and want my own 240 lol, but that doesn't mean I'll be getting rid of the miata.
